Effie (Reaves) Yokum was born March 12, 1890 in Missouri, to Harvey and Cassie Reaves. In 1900, she lived near Ash Grove with her parents and her five brothers and was attending school. In 1910 she was in Ash Grove, working as a laundress. In 1911, she gave birth to a son, Leo (see entry for Reaves, Leo). Sometime before 1920, Effie married Lewis Frank Yokum. They had one son, William Lloyd Yokum, born in 1920. Effie outlived Frank by a little more than year and died on May 22, 1967 (Russel 2012).

Grave Marker: Effie (Reaves) Yokum's grave is marked with a wooden Eastern Orthodox Cross and a modern metal replacement marker on which "Effie Yokum 1890 1967" is inscribed. Due to the absence of a more permanent marker, Effie is also memorialized on the new monument, installed in 2017, for those interred in unmarked graves in the Berry Cemetery.
