Mollie (Robinson) Ellison was born October 31, 1865 in Farmerville, Texas. Her mother was Betty (Dicks) Robinson, born in Richmond, Virginia. By about 1884, Mollie had moved to Missouri, where she gave birth to her only child, Bessie Robinson. About 1888, Mollie married Sip Napoleon Ellison. She lived in Ash Grove with her husband and daughter in 1900. In 1910, she was working in Ash Grove as a washerwoman for private families. In October 1926, her husband was admitted to the Greene County Alms House with advanced-stage syphilis. He died the next month. Mollie continued to live in Ash Grove, with her daughter and granddaughter, working as a laundress in 1930. Mollie died in Ash Grove on December 16, 1932, of diabetes (Russell 2012).
Grave Marker: Mollie Ellison's specific place of burial within the Berry Cemetery is unknown and there is no individual headstone for her. However, Mollie is memorialized by the inscription of her name (shown below) on the new monument, installed in 2017, for individuals interred in unmarked graves in the Berry Cemetery.
