Mary Harrison was born in Franklin County, Missouri on February 2, 1877. Her parents were Charles and Lou (Williams) Harrison, both of Tennessee. In 1900, Mary was living with her parents in Springfield, Missouri. By 1910, she was the live-in servant of dry goods merchant Byrd U. Smith, in Ash Grove. Mary never married nor had children, and died of tuberculosis on April 8, 1915 (Russel 2012).
Grave Marker: Mary Harrison's death certificate states that she was buried in the Berry Cemetery on April 8, 1915. However, Mary's specific place of burial within the Berry Cemetery is unknown and there is no known individual headstone for her. However, Mary is memorialized by the inscription of her name (shown below) on the new monument, installed in 2017, for individuals interred in unmarked graves in the Berry Cemetery.
