Francis “Fanny” or "Fannie" B. (Stanford) Murray was born January 24, 1856 in Alabama. Her father’s name is unknown, but her mother was Lucy Stafford. In 1870, Fanny was living near Ash Grove, Missouri, with the family of physician Robert C. Prunty, and working as a domestic servant. On January 19, 1875, she married farmer Flementine “Flem” Murray at Ash Grove. Flem and Fanny had eight children together before his death in 1919. After her husband died, Fanny continued to live with her daughters in Ash Grove, working as a laundress. She died on June 22, 1946 (Russel 2012). |
