Maude Lee Harvey was born on October 23, 1879. While Maude's headstone lists 1881 as her birth year, census data indicate that the earlier date is correct; the 1880 census for the Harvey family includes Maude and lists her age as several months old at the time. In 1880, Maude was living with her parents, Harrison and Sarah (Huddleston) Harvey, in Cass Township, Greene County, Missouri. By 1900, the family had relocated to West Main Street, Ash Grove. Sometime before 1910, Maude began her career as a public-school teacher, probably in Ash Grove. After the death of her father in 1918, Maude moved in with the family of her sister, Willie (Harvey) Harris. Around 1920, Maude began suffering from heart problems and retired from teaching. Maude died near Ash Grove on September 7, 1924. She never married or had children (Russel 2012).
